United for Intercultural Action

Key activities – education, remembrance, solidarity

A particular focus is placed on the participation and empowerment of young people, especially young refugees. UNITED connects organizations working in the field of forced migration and offers them a platform for exchange. In addition, online trainings are provided for professionals who work directly with refugees.

As part of the Action Week Against Racism, UNITED coordinates campaigns and offers a platform for best practice examples. Numerous youth projects focus on anti-racism, reporting racism in sports, and sharing knowledge through critical pedagogy – many of them on an international level.

Furthermore, the network participates in educational projects, develops materials for civic and political education, and organizes conferences and trainings on human rights, diversity and anti-discrimination. Projects such as the List of Deaths draw attention to the consequences of racist migration policies. The aim is to create spaces for dialogue, encounter and critical thinking – across national, cultural and social boundaries – and thus contribute to strengthening a democratic, human rights-based European civil society.

We are participating in the project Empowered by ACTion – civic education crossing borders because

…we are convinced that intercultural learning and civic education are key tools in the fight against racism. Cross-border exchange – especially with young people and those with refugee experience – strengthens mutual understanding and opens up new perspectives for our educational work.

Through this project, we hope to gain new impulses, methodological inspiration, and the opportunity to expand our networks across Europe. Moreover, we aim to contribute to the discussion on forced migration, and social participation, and to collaborate with other actors towards a more inclusive and solidarity-based European educational landscape.

Diversity is a strength – solidarity is a shared responsibility.
