Colourful Painting: young people in action in front of the partner Countires' outlines

Goals

What we want to achieve with the project:

We are various youth work institutions, educational institutions, humanitarian aid organizations and counselling services that all work with young refugees. We are pursuing the goal of improving and further developing our work.

To do this, we are taking action at different points:

  • We question our own ways of thinking. We will reflect on our own world views, stereotypes and prejudices as well as structural discrimination in our everyday professional lives. We hope to gain new impulses for empowerment-orientated and discrimination-sensitive practice with refugees.
  • We want to learn more about the causes of forced migration and refugee policies in Europe and the partner countries and reflect on the impact on our work. This will enable us to better understand the obstacles faced by refugees – both during their displacement and after their arrival – and to encounter them with more empathy and professional sensitivity.
  • We want to gain new ideas and tools for nonformal civic education work with young refugees. We want to explore artistic and cultural forms of expression such as theatre, music, poetry slam, dance, film and street art. These formats often work without many words, connect with the interests and passions of young people and help to express feelings, thoughts and experiences. They also create a space to talk about societal inequalities in society from the perspective of young refugees to make their voices and perspectives heard.
  • We want to strengthen the social and civic participation of young refugees. Young refugees are active participants in our project and contribute their experiences and perspectives as experts of their own lives. As Youth Workers, we reflect on how young refugees can engage politically and socially – and how we can create spaces where they can represent their interests themselves.
  • We build new networks and partnerships. In this way, we can share experiences and knowledge, make different funding opportunities for projects in the context of forced migration visible and offer political advocacy work.
  • The results and findings from the project will be available in a brochure on our website.
