International Training series for professionals
Practical reflection and civic education
The International Trainings are aimed at professional and Youth Workers from participating partner countries who work with young refugees or in the field of forced migration.
The trainings offer the opportunity to reflect on one’s own work in a discrimination-sensitive manner, to discover new approaches and (artistic-creative) methods of nonformal civic education. They also provide plenty of space for international, peer-to-peer dialogue. This also gives the organizations new ideas and impulses to improve their work. Between the trainings, a digital exchange supports participants in applying what they have learned to their daily work.
Each of the four trainings has its own thematic focus:
1st training 12-16 May 2025 (Jugendakademie Walberberg, Germany):
Forced migration & youth work. Learning, reflecting, taking action.
- The training introduces the topic of forced migration and gives Youth Workers the chance to explore refugee policies in different countries and the reasons why people are forced to leave their homes. Through interactive methods, it invites participants to reflect on their own professional attitudes as Youth Workers in a diversity-sensitive way. The training supports developing discrimination-sensitive and empowerment-oriented options for working with young refugees. A key focus is the international exchange and learning from each other.
2nd training 24 – 28 November 2025 (Prague, Czech Republic):
Creative & artistic methods in civic education
The training focuses on theatre, art and creative forms of expression as tools for nonformal civic education. Participants try out activities that need little or no language, that are connected to the everyday lives and interests of young people and have the potential to make thoughts, feelings and social conflicts visible. The training encourages participants to try out these creative approaches and test their potential for working with young people. A special focus of the training is on the question of how creative methods can contribute to strengthening the empowerment and self-representation of young refugees.
3rd training May 2026 (Budapest, Hungary):
Theatre of the Oppressed based on Augusto Boal
In this training, participants learn about the approach and theatre methods of the Theatre of the Oppressed – an approach that makes social injustices visible and encourages people to try out new possibilities for action. Together, participants will explore how these methods can be used in their own educational work and what is needed to do so in a meaningful way.
4th Get-Together Event 23 – 28 November 2026 (Krzyżowa, Poland):
Exchange and networking for young refugees & professionals
At the Get-Together Event, young people from the local groups and professionals from all participating countries will come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the participation of young refugees. The young people present the results of their local group work and jointly develop ideas on how these can have a sustainable impact in their own environment.

We warmly invite you to sign up for all the training sessions. However, participation in only one training is also possible.
