Civic education crossing borders

In a network of five organizations – the Jugendakademie Walberberg from Germany, KIK (Club of Catholic Intelligentsia) and the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe from Poland, UNITED for Intercultural Action from Hungary and OPU (Organisation for Aid to Refugees) from the Czech Republic – we focus on developing non-formal civic education with young refugees and in the context of forced migration.

Our common goal is to strengthen empowerment-oriented approaches, to qualify professionals to further develop organizations in their work with young refugees and to exchange and explore creative, artistic and discrimination-sensitive methods for youth work.

The funded project runs from January 2025 to June 2027.

In the years before the start, the partner organizations jointly developed and prepared the project.

The activities of the project, such as international trainings, power-critical consulting, local group activities, and scientific support, will continue until mid-2027 and are funded until then. At the end of the project period, a final event will take place to present the results and generate impulses for further work. After that, a joint evaluation will follow, and we will examine how individual activities can be continued in the long term.
